Singapore Ranked Sixth Top City Brand World Brand Finance Global City Index

Singapore has been recognized as one of the top global cities for branding, ranking sixth in the latest Brand Finance Global City Index. Published by Brand Finance, a renowned brand evaluation and strategy consultancy based in London, the index measures cities’ brand power and reputation.

The recent index was based on a global survey of 15,000 individuals across 20 countries in September. The respondents were asked to rank 100 cities based on various key performance indicators, evaluating each city’s desirability as a place to live, work, study, visit, retire, and invest in.

Moreover, the respondents were also given a list of 45 attributes under seven pillars, including Business & Investment and Culture & Heritage, and asked to associate them with each city. Singapore’s overall ranking was boosted by its strong performance in the Business and Investment pillar, where it ranked third globally. This was based on the ease of doing business, economic strength, and support for startups, among other factors.

Additionally, Singapore scored high in the areas of low crime and violence, further boosting its overall ranking. Alex Haigh, the managing director for Asia Pacific at Brand Finance, points out that Singapore stands out as the “crown jewel” of the ASEAN region in terms of city branding. Its strong economy, appeal to investors, and top-notch infrastructure solidify its position as a leading global financial center.
