The Singapore Land Authority (SLA) has recently awarded the tender for a single-storey conserved building at 7 Dempsey Road to Violet Oon, the renowned Peranakan restaurant owned by Chef Violet Oon. The restaurant is also known for being a food writer and restaurateur. The winning bid was submitted by Violet Oon’s subsidiary, Halo Concept, with a monthly rental of $52,615, which was the highest among eight bids received.

Situated in the Dempsey Hill lifestyle enclave, the building is surrounded by high-end restaurants, cafes, and retail shops. It sits on a land area of approximately 6,723 sq ft, with an estimated gross floor area of 6,190 sq ft. The tender was launched on January 24, with a focus on both quality and price. The lease period for the building is set at 5+4 years.

Halo Concept plans to transform the space into a unique dining experience, with both indoor and outdoor dining options. The new Violet Oon at 7 Dempsey Road will also feature a mobile cooking studio. The other bids received for the site ranged from $20,000 to $33,295 per month. Two parties, including Singapore-based restaurant groups Culinary Arts and Urban Group, had submitted the second highest bid of $33,295 per month. The building’s current tenant, Contemporary Melting Pot & Bar (CM-PB), also submitted a bid for the site.
