Keppel Wins 20 Year Centralised Cooling Systems Contract Tengah Bto Projects

Keppel, a leading company in infrastructure, has been selected by the Housing & Development Board (HDB) to provide chilled water supply for three upcoming residential projects in Tengah. The 20-year contract includes the design, construction, ownership, and operation of centralised cooling systems (CCS) for the Brickland Weave, Plantation Edge I & II, and Plantation Verge projects, which will collectively serve around 3,500 households.

According to the company’s statement on September 30, Keppel will work closely with HDB to deliver the CCS to each home. The system will use a network of centrally installed chillers on the rooftops of selected HDB blocks to supply chilled water to cool the flats. Keppel promises to incorporate innovative engineering and design features and use high-quality materials to ensure the CCS meets industry standards.

Upon completion, the CCS at these BTO projects will be linked to Keppel’s Operations Nerve Centre (ONC) for remote control and real-time performance monitoring.

With more companies joining the CCS market in the public housing sector, we hope to enhance the industry’s capabilities and strengthen the CCS ecosystem, making HDB living sustainable and highly liveable,” says Tan Meng Dui, CEO of HDB.

Keppel’s infrastructure division CEO, Cindy Lim, also expressed their delight in being awarded the contract to provide cooling services for these three upcoming Tengah precincts. With over 20 years of experience in meeting the cooling needs of various types of properties, such as business parks, commercial offices, hotels, malls, and mission-critical facilities, including wafer fabs and data centres, Keppel is well-equipped to collaborate with HDB in delivering high-quality and modern cooling solutions for homeowners.

With both completed and under-developed assets, Keppel currently has a combined cooling portfolio of over 260,000 refrigeration tonnes in the region.

The contract is not expected to have a significant impact on Keppel’s current financial year earnings per share (EPS) and net tangible asset (NTA) per share.

As of 9.29am, Keppel’s shares are trading 1 cent higher or 0.15% up at $6.63.
